January Reveal Projects...

Hello there! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful start to the NEW year! So far so good for me...hoping to make it a goal this year to carve out a bit more time for crafting. Getting to play with the January kit from Birds of a Feather this month is helping me out with that goal!

I am loving the colors in this month's kit and the papers especially from BoBunny...delish!

I created a scrapbook layout and a card for my first reveal. For the card I pulled out some fun stamps and played around with them using some scraps and bits and pieces from the January kit. The little pennant banners that you see peeking out on my card were actually longer pieces from the package of die-cuts included in this month's kit that I sniped to make work on the card.

It's always fun to use things in a different way!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to check out the entire kit for this month on the Birds of a Feather website

And It Was Merry...

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Before the month is officially over I wanted to share the last couple of projects that I created using the December Birds of a Feather kit.

A simple card and tag was made easy using the cardstock stickers from October Afternoon as accents.

The tag was perfect for adorning a teacher gift that we gave this year.

I can't wait to see what the new year brings! Wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy New Year!

Last Minute Cards using the December Kit

It seems like there is always someone that you need to add to your gift giving list at the last minute during the holidays. Thankfully I have the Birds of a Feather kit to create with ready to go on my craft desk!

These cards fit the "handmade" bill yet were super quick and easy to put together! Hooray!

I hope that your holiday season is going smoothly! Christmas is almost here...can't wait!

Holiday Cards using the December Kit

December is such a busy, busy month! I've been sick so far, had the brakes go out in my car and then my husband's car followed suit, had to attend to some training out of town for work and have yet to do any baking or prep for the holiday beyond shopping! AHHH! I was however able to easily create these quick cards using the Birds of a Feather kit for December...the kit coordinates PERFECTLY for putting together some quick and easy projects! Love that since this month is so crazy.

These cards literally took minutes to make. Using the tags on the 12 x 12 sheet from Basic Grey's Juniper Berry collection made them super quick to create and yet they look super classy!

I hope you are finding some time to spend creating this month! I know when I don't have the time to spend in my craft room I get a little bit edgy! I'm glad I was able to create so easily using this month's kit

Some More Projects using the November Kit!

I had some fun scrapping the other night using the November kit! Loving all the fall colors in this kit, perfect for scrapping some of my photos of my daughter jumping in the leaves!

I also am loving the chalkboard and chalkboard marker included in this month's kit...super cool and so very many possibilities on what to do with it. I kept it simple because I'm thinking I'm going to want to reuse this in our home for different holidays or to feature a favorite quote, etc. I simply added my sentiment with the chalkboard marker and added a bow with the fun ribbon (also in this month's kit!).

I can't wait to hang it in our kitchen!

Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate!

Sharing Some November Kit Love!

I am super excited to share a couple of projects with you that I created using the November kit from Birds of a Feather! This kit is packed with beautiful rich colors and a fun mix of patterns. And I have to say that I am LOVING the corrugated alphas!!

For this layout I decided to create some borders using my large circle punch and cutting some of the patterned papers and then cutting the circles in half. A super easy way to create an area of interest on your page! For my journaling I printed on white cardstock and cut it into strips...I've been on a kick when it comes to doing my journaling this way lately!

Using some of my scraps from the layout above I whipped up a sweet and simple card! Adding some of the flowers from this month's kit and a laser cut chipboard piece I was done!

Technique Tuesday : Thanksgiving Place Setting/Table Decoration

For today's Technique Tuesday I'm actually going to share a super simple "mini" tutorial with you! Something perfect for the upcoming holiday...Thanksgiving!

I used one double sided sheet of paper from my Birds of a Feather November kit, some flowers from the kit and added an additional patterned paper from the kit later on (the word FAMILY was cut from this sheet) as well as a length of ribbon.

First I cute 5 strips of paper all measuring 1 inch in width and the following in length: 9 1/2, 8, 6 1/2, 5 and 3 1/2 inches.

I then cut holes on all of my strips on both ends...

Thread your ribbon through all the strips on one end...

and then feed them through the other ends of the paper strips.

When the ribbon is through all of the paper strips tie the ribbon so that it looks like so...

Now you can embellish as you see fit! These would look cute as name holders on your Thanksgiving table or scattered about a little arrangement of mini pumpkins and gourds too!

Technique Tuesday

Today I'm sharing not really a "technique" but a way to make the most of some of your scrapbook embellishments included in this month's kit! Those wooden phrases and shapes are pretty cool all on their own but it's amazing how you can change them up by simply adding a bit of some of your patterned paper scraps behind them!

Simply take your wooden shape and find some patterned paper that you want to back it with and adhere using your favorite adhesive that will work with both wood and paper. I love my Scotch brand 2-way glue!

I don't worry about it getting the paper the right size right off the bat...I stick it on the back and trim it up afterwards.

Looks pretty good like this...but I wanted to add something extra.

Some word stickers were perfect as something added...you could also journal right in this space as well.

Here is another sample of where I used this little technique on the wooden phrases on another layout...

Let me know if you have tried this or link up a project where you did this so I can check it out!

Sharing Some More Goodness from the October Kit!

As you can tell I've been having lots of fun creating with the October kit! I am loving the variety of patterned papers a ton. I've created four layouts so far and have a ton of stuff left for more projects. I'm so excited to challenge myself to use every little scrap!

For this layout I chose some photos of when we went on a somewhat impromptu adventure to the American Girl store with my daughter and some close friends. We had so much fun and the girls ended up each getting a doll...kind of a big deal! The wood cut words and shapes were fun to use on this layout and also add a bit of depth to the otherwise pretty flat page.

I don't know what I was thinking when I created this next layout...I went a bit overboard with all the colors and patterns, I think I was just so excited to use it all! It's a bit crazier than I usually am when it comes to combining but I think I like it. It kind of reminds me of a grandma page. :)

Off now to enjoy this beautiful weekend we're having here! Hope you are able to do the same!

Layouts using the October Kit!

I was so excited when I saw the pictures of the October kit...I couldn't wait to play with it and I did as soon as it arrived on my front door step! I knew I wanted to scrap the pictures from my daughter's first school dance and the colors from the photos went perfectly with the hues in this month's kit.

I have a Silhouette die-cutting machine and had some fun cutting out some feathers as you can see. I also used my die-cutting machine to cut out my title.

This next layout is a snapshot of my daughter and I on a recent hike that we took exploring some state land...it was gorgeous! I had taken a quick picture of our shadows and I ended up loving it. Had to put it in a layout!

I used my computer to type up and print out my journaling on this layout. I used the Distress Ink from the kit to ink up my edges of the journaling strips a bit to make them more visible.
